Pentagram at Broad Hinton.

Summers Lane, Broad Hinton 2, Wiltshire. 28th May 2017, Barley crop.
There were two formations that appeared on the same night in adjoining barley fields, and they could not have been more different. It was like two ships in the night passing closely by, unaware of each
others presence.
This formation was very different in style and feel to its neighbour. This is such a pretty design, a pentagram accompanied by a confetti (if one might use this word as a noun) of tiny circles. Unlike many crop circles, here the pentagram is not drawn inside a circle, but is rather free standing – an interesting accomplishment in terms of geometry. The tiny circles are of
two diameters, one slightly larger than the other. There is more than a passing resemblance to many of the fractal formations that have appeared over the years where tiny circles like this are used to indicate further interactions of the fractal pattern that are too small or intricate to be rendered equitably in the crop. These small circles echo and draw attention to the five-ness of the overall design.

What Are We To Make of This? |
|
Summers Lane, Broad Hinton 1, Wiltshire. 28th May 2017, Barley crop.
The formation that is like a construction grid is known as Broad Hinton 1. It comprises of two circles, one large and one small – the smaller simple circle at approximately 10ft in diameter, rather large to be called a real ‘grapeshot’ or ‘satellite’ circle. The larger
circle measured approximately 100-120ft in diameter and contained a large standing circle at its centre with a wide ring around it. The ring had been divided into five thin concentric lines, with a series of seven thin circles creating a flower-like pattern. At first glance it seemed that six of these circles should have produced an even and harmonious pattern, but this isn’t the case. The six rings do not meet up as one would expect and the seventh circle seems to draw attention to that fact.
One could put this down to shoddy geometry, or one might consider it symbolic.

Flight Fund 2017. Can You Make a Donation to Help Us Record the Crop Circles
Today? |
|
We really, need your help and support to raise funds to help pay for this seasons photographic flights.
Please Help to keep us Flying in 2017: If you have enjoyed looking at our pictures and information please consider making a small donation to keep us flying. There are so few of us left regularly recording the circles it’s really important
that we continue. And while some now use drones to record the circles, it is important that there are still images taken from aircraft where the best quality camera equipment can be used and images that include the broad vista of the landscape can be taken. This kind of photography is expensive and it gets harder with each passing year to raise the funds we need to continue our work, but if everyone who regularly looked at this website made a small donation we would meet the funds we need. You
can make a donation here.

Summer Lectures Crop Circle Conference 2017
Exploring the Crop Circle Phenomenon 28th, 29th & 30th July 2017 – The Ballroom, The Bear Hotel, Devizes, Wiltshire, UK
|
|
Re-Visioning our Crop Circle Conference.
It has been over ten years since we first began the Summer Crop Circle Lectures and during that time the crop circle phenomenon while remaining constant has changed enormously. The way we think about the subject and interact with the circles has moved on and so has the way we view the conference, so for 2017 we have re-visioned the event, freshening it up.
One
thing we have wanted to do for a while was bring a new ethos to the idea of the conference; something that looked a little less like entertainment and felt more like community and collegiality. It was time for the conference to mature and become a place where the crop circles were not only enjoyed and celebrated, but where people can come and join in the conversation, share their experiences and participate in a more inclusive and collaborative way. Almost as important as the circles themselves
are the people, often full of experience, insight and wisdom it is they, in addition to our speakers that make up the ‘body conference’.
As always our speakers will be drawn from those who have actually spent time in the fields and those who are actively engaged in the endeavour to better understand the phenomenon. Our speakers will not just be published authors, or professional speakers, but people who genuinely have something interesting and progressive to say about
the phenomenon – some will be updating us about where their research has taken them in the last year, or over several years.

Steve Alexander has been photographing the crop circles for twenty years. During that time he and Karen have provided a important service to the crop circle world by supplying professional quality photographic imagery of the circles to researchers, the media and the general public. Since 1999 they have produced an annual Year Book showcasing the very best formations of each year along with a written commentary researched by Karen Alexander. The Crop Circle Year Book books are beautifully produced and they contain some of the best crop circle photography you will find anywhere. They are self-published, in small numbers and are not widely available, many
consider them to be the most important crop circle documents available. To keep up with the latest circles as they happen you can subscribe to our free newsletter. We will send you information and pictures of the latest UK circles as soon as they happen directly to your inbox along with special offers from our online
shop. You can also access the latest pictures/videos via our image library where you can browse our extensive archive of images for free.
