Can people make crop circles? From the archives.
An attempt to find out if this was possible.

The Crop Circle Making Competition by Rupert Sheldrake.

In 1992, John Michell and I helped organize the first and last International Crop Circle Making Competition. In the late 1970s, circular areas of flattened crops mysterious appeared infields in southern England, especially in Wiltshire, and throughout the 1980s they were found in increasing numbers. By 1991 the annual count was about 800. A few appeared in other countries, but the great majority were, and still are, in England.

By the late 1980s some of the formations had evolved a long way from the basic circle, with concentric rings, satellite circles and rectangular, triangularand wavy shapes. By 1990 the most complex formations were pictograms and‘insectograms’. The forms evolved further in 1991, and the season ended withan astonishing fractal pattern, the Mandelbrot Set, in a field near Cambridge. A group of people, including myself, John and Richard Adams decided to organise a crop circle making competition to find outexactly what people could and could not do. The competition was co-sponsoredby The Guardian and The Cerealogist, the leading crop circle journal in Britain.

There have been many videos taken of balls of light that have been seen in and around crop circles since they started to appear. Steve Alexander took one such video in 1990 which you can see on our website. The Milk Hill UFO video. www.temporarytemples.co.uk

Here is an interesting article on an event in 1999. A video was taken by Don Fletcher of a ball of light in a crop circle close to the ancient hill fort at Barbury Castle in the UK. These balls of light are seen often in and around crop circles, so always make sure when you visit a crop circle to have some kind of recording devise with you, such as a video camera.

Filled with stunning photography, including many full page landscape views of the crop circles along with overheads and detail shots – by Steve Alexander. The photography is accompanied by articles from Karen Alexander and incisive commentary text throughout. Our Year Books are our flagship product. Self published in small numbers (no big publisher or distributors), they come directly from us to you. Printed on satin finish paper, the materials used to produce these books are top quality. The covers are laminated with gold foil titles. Our books are true collector’s items, treasured by all those who have them. In fact they are generally considered to be the most important crop circle document of the year. Proceeds from the sales of these books go directly to fund our continuing coverage of the circles.

USA crop circle in 2003 was not made by hoaxers.

On July 23-24, 2003, a private scientific research team documented physical evidence that confirmed Art Rantala’s eyewitness observation that the Mayville/Kekoskee, Wisconsin USA crop circle formation in 2003, was not made by hoaxers.

Help us raise funds to record the crop circles in 2015. Urgent request.
HELP!

MAKE A DONATION OF £5.00?

It would be great if all our reqular donaters could make a donation at this moment in time.
Thank you

All our work recording the crop circles is self-financed. The yearly cost of flights over the circles alone runs into many thousands of pounds. A flight costs between £400-£800. The sale of our photographs, Year Books and other items via our online shop helps to offset some of that cost, but with increasing overheads across the board of our activities it is becoming more and more difficult to find the finance we need to record the circles.

If you feel that you would like to make a donation towards our ongoing recording of the crop circles you can make a donation through our online shop. We would gratefully receive anything that you consider appropriate, no matter how small the amount.

Devizes, Wiltshire, UK

2015 is out 10th Anniversary Event!

The Summer Crop Circle Lectures is the world's leading crop circle conference. Researchers and enthusiasts gather together from around the globe each summer to present and share new ideas, experiences and research into this enigmatic phenomenon. Our programme combines top national and international speakers, along with exciting newcomers to provide a broad collection of ideas and thinking on the subject. Above all, the weekend is a celebration of the inspiration and influence these magnificent forms have had on our culture and it is an opportunity to meet new people and network with like-minded souls. Our conference is firmly centred around the crop circles, but that focus should not be confused with a narrowness of vision. The circles are considered alongside many other related subjects and disciplines, which makes for a stimulating, vibrant and wide-ranging programme.

Our venue has full disabled access and we provide light refreshments on site. We will also have a collection of trade stands, including all the latest crop circle photographs, films and books for sale. Don't forget your pen for a signed copy!

The conference is organised and hosted by well-known and seasoned crop circle researchers Karen Alexander and Steve Alexander, supported by the generous collaboration and consultation of many of their crop circle colleagues.

We look forward to welcoming you to our event...

Please Support Us! How you Can Help...
Please help us raise money for our flights to record the crop circles in the UK...

We have always been committed to providing the best quality crop circle photography anywhere. Not only as a record of the phenomenon as it unfolds, but also as a legacy for future generations.  High quality images are essential for the future and not only will hold more information, but will also show the magnificence of the crop circles in the landscape and hopefully record the majesty and beauty of the circles for generations who were not there to witness them first hand.

The cost of obtaining our high quality images each year is huge (running in to thousands of pounds). We hire a small helicopter and use high-end digital SLRs to record the images. While it is true that there are cheaper methods for photographing the circles, there is a more damaging cost to the quality of pictures possible using there methods (drones etc.) where using expensive digital cameras would not be practical or possible.

Because of our commitment to quality and our awareness of costs, we regularly review our practices and at the moment (as of 2015) we remain convinced that our current operating methods allow us to get the best images possible.

It is through the sales of our year books, photos and other merchandise that meeting the cost of our photography possible.

We also reply on our donors who very kindly help top up our flight fund each year.

We never take any of our supporters for granted and are constantly humbled and amazed at their generosity. Every sale and every donation, no matter how humble counts, and helps us continue to record this beautiful phenomenon.
