We are busy at present working on our new website. Our existing website will not be updated as we are concentrating on our new one. This is to save expense on updating two websites at the same time. So the buy one get one free offer that has been running for a while will still be available until the old site goes offline.

Please pass on these details to anyone you feel might be interested. We really do need to raise funds for the 2015 season.

Buy one copy and get one free. Buy two copies, and get two free. Buy three copies and get three free. There is no limit this year to how many copies you can buy, and in turn receive the same amount of books FREE!

In the beginning. When the season starts.

The crop circle season in the UK usually starts with formations in oilseed rape (also known as canola or rapeseed). A member of the cabbage family, it has a cabbage-like smell, and its yellow flowers have sickly sweet aroma. When growing the plants have a tough rubbery texture and can grow over 5ft tall. The pollen from the flowers is notoriously difficult to get out of clothes!
Rapeseed is the first crop of the year that grows tall enough to accommodate a crop circle design - barley and wheat are still very short at this point - but it can begin flowering anytime from April onwards. Not every year yields formations in this crop and in 2014 there were just two recorded in the UK. Crop Circles in this crop usually occur when the plant is at the height of its flowering stage.
After flowering, the plants are left to dry out in the fields. The flowers fade to leave seed pods which are harvested later in the summer. The oil from the seeds is used for cooking and even fuel for farm vehicles!
Rapeseed fields look glorious in the landscape in spring and early summer and the scent of their flowers can be carried on the breeze for miles.
Crop circles that appear in this crop are particularly beautiful - this formation appeared in 2009 at Roundway Hill, near Devizes in Wiltshire and is a very fine example of a crop circle in oilseed rape.

This was one of the first rapeseed formations I went into - back in 1994 - over 20 years ago now! It was a great formation, at the time one of the most complex designs to have appeared in the crop. The design was crisp and well defined and the inside beautifully swirled. As you can see the formation was fairly large and the stand out feature was the tiny standing circles - 4 in total. The pattern contained full circles and crescent moons the latter of which was a popular motif in crop circle designs at the time.
The circle was at Morgan's Hill, not too far from Devizes in Wiltshire.

HELP!

MAKE A DONATION?

It would be great if all our reqular donaters could make a donation at this moment in time.
Thank you

All our work recording the crop circles is self-financed. The yearly cost of flights over the circles alone runs into many thousands of pounds. A flight costs between £400-£800. The sale of our photographs, Year Books and other items via our online shop helps to offset some of that cost, but with increasing overheads across the board of our activities it is becoming more and more difficult to find the finance we need to record the circles.

If you feel that you would like to make a donation towards our ongoing recording of the crop circles you can make a donation through our online shop. We would gratefully receive anything that you consider appropriate, no matter how small the amount.

Deepest solar eclipse in 15 years.
Image
This spring should reward plenty of star-gazers, especially in Britain, which will experience its deepest solar eclipse in 15 years, as well as a Supermoon, all at the same time – an event that will sink the island into twilight for two whole hours. Will there be any crop circles this year with this theme?

2015 is out 10th Anniversary Event!

The Summer Crop Circle Lectures is the world's leading crop circle conference. Researchers and enthusiasts gather together from around the globe each summer to present and share new ideas, experiences and research into this enigmatic phenomenon. Our programme combines top national and international speakers, along with exciting newcomers to provide a broad collection of ideas and thinking on the subject. Above all, the weekend is a celebration of the inspiration and influence these magnificent forms have had on our culture and it is an opportunity to meet new people and network with like-minded souls. Our conference is firmly centred around the crop circles, but that focus should not be confused with a narrowness of vision. The circles are considered alongside many other related subjects and disciplines, which makes for a stimulating, vibrant and wide-ranging programme.

Our venue has full disabled access and we provide light refreshments on site. We will also have a collection of trade stands, including all the latest crop circle photographs, films and books for sale. Don't forget your pen for a signed copy!

The conference is organised and hosted by well-known and seasoned crop circle researchers Karen Alexander and Steve Alexander, supported by the generous collaboration and consultation of many of their crop circle colleagues.

We look forward to welcoming you to our event...

Please Support Us! How you Can Help...
Please help us raise money for our flights to record the crop circles in the UK...

We have always been committed to providing the best quality crop circle photography anywhere. Not only as a record of the phenomenon as it unfolds, but also as a legacy for future generations.  High quality images are essential for the future and not only will hold more information, but will also show the magnificence of the crop circles in the landscape and hopefully record the majesty and beauty of the circles for generations who were not there to witness them first hand.

The cost of obtaining our high quality images each year is huge (running in to thousands of pounds). We hire a small helicopter and use high-end digital SLRs to record the images. While it is true that there are cheaper methods for photographing the circles, there is a more damaging cost to the quality of pictures possible using there methods (drones etc.) where using expensive digital cameras would not be practical or possible.

Because of our commitment to quality and our awareness of costs, we regularly review our practices and at the moment (as of 2015) we remain convinced that our current operating methods allow us to get the best images possible.

It is through the sales of our year books, photos and other merchandise that meeting the cost of our photography possible.

We also reply on our donors who very kindly help top up our flight fund each year.

We never take any of our supporters for granted and are constantly humbled and amazed at their generosity. Every sale and every donation, no matter how humble counts, and helps us continue to record this beautiful phenomenon.
