New Formations to Report!
Three circles in Sussex!
After a number of years absence the crop circles have finally returned to Sussex...
A single, simple circle accompanied by two tiny grapeshot circles had appeared in Sussex in late May. Close to Falmer and the brand new Brighton & Hove football stadium. The circle appeared in a field of barley. However although ground shots were taken, no one had flown overhead.
However, on the 3rd of July a second circle was reported in Sussex, this time by the Long Man of Wilmington (ancient chalk figure). With two formations in the region we decided we would take a flight to record them. It was a long way for us to go, not normally something we would consider doing, but initial reports of this second circle sounded intriguing, so we thought we would bite the bullet and go see what was happening...
You can see more pictures of these formation by clicking on any of the images to visit our online picture library...
Loose Bottom, Nr Falmer, East Sussex, UK.
Reported 30th May.
Although a beautiful emerald green when this circle arrived in late May, by the beginning of July the crop was very ripe and a pale golden colour, the evening light only made it look more beautiful...
In this picture the two tiny grapeshot circles can be seen on the far side of the formation and the new football stadium is just visible in the distance.
The 2014 crop circle season seems to be on course to be a rather busy
one. We have had formations spread all over the UK. We have already
taken several flights to record the circles in Worcestershire,
Hampshire, Wiltshire, Dorset and Sussex. We do hope you have enjoyed
seeing the photography, and the drawings of this years formations. We
always welcome any donations towards our photography flights, as over
the season the cost does mount up. If anyone would like to make a
donation at this time, it would be very timely, and very helpful.

The Long Man of Wilmington, East Sussex, UK.
Reported 3rd July.
The second circle in Sussex was this beautiful five-fold design. Pentagons and circles combine to create this lovely pattern, similar in symmetry to a circle that appeared close to Stonehenge last year - which used squares and circles.
The circle was not a huge one, measuring approximately 80-100ft in diameter, but the geometry was precise and very neat.
In this picture you can see the Long Man of Wilmington in the background on the hillside. The circle was not in a field directly underneath the land mark, but close enough by to see the chalk figure.
This is a close-up shot of the Long Man - you can read more about him by clicking on the picture above. You'll be taken the the Sussex Archeological Society for more information.

All
our work recording the crop circles is self-financed. The yearly cost
of flights over the circles alone runs into many thousands of pounds. A
one hour flight costs £300-£700. The
sale of our photographs, Year Books and other items via our on-line
shop helps to offset some of that cost. With increasing overheads across
the board of our activities it is becoming more and more difficult to
find the finance we need to record the circles, so please browse our
shop and think of us when buying gifts for friends and family.

The Long Man of Wilmington, East Sussex, UK. Reported 9th July
This mysterious formation occurred just a few days after the formation at Wilmington. As you can see from this picture, the weather was pretty bad and I suspect this picture was taken in the late evening. However, before anyone could get a better look the farmer cut it from the field.
You can just about see even from this angle it was a quintuplet design (five dots on a dice pattern). A centre circle, with a wide ring - then a fine outer ring with four equally distanced circles placed on that ring. It's such a shame it's gone and that (as far as we know) there are no more images of it.
