New Formation to Report...
Hod Hill, nr Hanford, Dorset, UK
Reported 1st June. Barley?
Image by Edward Creasey - Click on image for more details...
This formation was reported yesterday and there is no aerial photo as yet. The weather is set to be showery in the UK this week, so flying will be tricky. As young barley recovers very quickly (it's still growing), getting a flight as soon as possible will be important.
From first impressions this design appears to based on circles and lines (or possibly squares).
You can help us to fly this formation by making a donation to our flight fund from as
little as £5.00. It seems as if the circles of 2014 will have us travelling further afield than in previous years. Please help if you can.
Click the donate button below.
With grateful thanks - Karen & Steve
Update
Pebworth, Worcestershire, UK.
Reported 26th May. Barley
As we feared, we could not get permission to fly over the formation near Pebworth that appeared last week. There is a high security prison in the vicinity and a no-fly zone, which included the area where the circle appeared. Last year a circle appeared in this area and we were refused permission to fly over. As disappointing as this is, there is nothing we can do and we have had to let it go. However, Karen has had the formation on the drawing board and you can see her images below...
This pencil outline shows the basic geometry of the formation. The circle is divided into 16 to enable the placement of two lots of eight circles and eight partial circles.
Eight is the number of periodic renewal, which feels right as we enter the post 2012/13 era. Eight is also connected to the phases of the moon, giving this formation the feel of the cycles of time and the movement of heavenly bodies - also a distinctly feminine character.

From the Crop Circle Year Book 2008...
"The fields of the Wiltshire countryside sit like a gigantic patchwork quilt elegantly draped over the many hills and vales that comprise this ancient landscape. Its many hues and textures crisscrossed with blue satin ribbons of small streams and broader canals are an unforgettable sight to anyone lucky enough to have flown over this beautiful place. During the sultry summer months, the enigmatic circle-makers embroider this velveteen coverlet with enigmatic symbols, sometimes hundreds of feet in diameter. Each year thousands of visitors throng here to visit the temporary temples constructed in this enigmatic annual summer show. Like some great cultural festival, some come to discover, some to contemplate, some just to gawk. They walk, talk, amble and ramble their way along-by long-barrows, round-barrows and stone circles in search of an elusive glimpse of something mysterious. Then slowly, the golden blanket of ripe wheat begins to disappear, to be replaced by the familiar corduroy stripes left behind by herds of great labouring harvesters signalling that another year is over. This book takes you over and through the fields of 2008 to wonder at and ponder the magical crop circles we saw there... This Special Edition combines inspirational aerial imagery with though provoking text to create a unique book full of the ambience mood and atmosphere of this amazing phenomenon."
