UK Circles Update...
The season is slowing and feeling like it is winding down. The fields are disappearing and the days are cooling down. There is a definite feel of autumn in the air.
We were still flying - as recently as yesterday - as one of the Hackpen circles now has additions. We will update you with pictures in the next day or two.
One of our reconnaissance flights yielded two new circles. One close to Avebury Trusloe and one at Marden Henge.
Click on images below to visit our image library to see more shots of this and other 2013 crop circles - and in a larger format.
Cooks Plantation, near Avebury Trusloe, Wilts. !9th August 2013. Wheat
There are 13 sets of box motifs around the perimeter of this huge formation. With pretty and intricate design features inside the central vesica shape.
Marden Henge, Wilts. 19th August 2013 - Wheat
This 12-fold spinner is a very pretty design - with an interesting sweeping floor-lay.
Both these formations have now been harvested.
Latest Drawings....
By Karen Alexander
The second Etchilhampton formation proved a challenge on the drawing board...
This was a six-fold spinning design which had some a-symmetry in the field. For the sketch I had to slightly idealise the pattern to draw it. Note the way a hexagon on the inside of the perimeter of the formation constrained the second ring exactly - that is beautiful proportioning.
Lots of lines were needed to create the pattern. So I took this drawing slowly inking in one section at a time to avoid mistakes...
The finished drawing/painting. The circle in the centre and the three circles on the right are suggestive of a decimal place and an ellipsis - but as yet no one has come up with anything that might make that suggestion anymore concrete.
You can come and have a couple of days drawing circles with me this February at the Winter Crop Circle Workshops. Look out for an announcement soon!
