A Visit to Etchilhampton...

Etchilhampton Hill,
near Devizes, Wilts.
6th August. Wheat.

We had the pleasure of visiting the huge Etchilhampton formation last week and we thought we'd share some of Steve's wonderful pole-shot images of the formation. While Steve did his photography, Karen took some measurements - you can see her drawings of the formation below.

The top of the formation was also at the highest point of the field. When stood at that point the formation offered a 360 degree panorama of the landscape including both the Alton Barnes and Devizes chalk white horses.

The largest formation of the year so far, the Etchilhampton circle attracted many visitors during the time we were there.

A small grape-shot circle was added to the formation sometime after it appeared.

I did idealise the geometry in my drawing, particularly that of the central cube. Does the a-symetery of the cube signify the breaking down of the classical 3D world (or state of consciousness) in preparedness for a breakthrough into deeper realms?

Are those figures sat around the outside of the design?

Chute, Wiltshire. 10th August. Wheat.

This circle was particularly beautiful on the ground...

Combed Wheat...

Plated, weaved wheat...

I couldn't help seeing six silhouetted figures against back-lit windows when painting this formation...

The Crop Circle Year Book books are beautifully produced and they contain some of the best crop circle photography you will find anywhere.
