Vesica Pisces as Eye - by Karen Alexander
A central part of our Crop circle Explorers courses will be to explore the area of the psyche, and
particularly the unconscious, and its possible role in the crop circle phenomenon.
There is a history of consciousness-based interactions with the crop
circle phenomenon
It is a common perception that the unconscious, both personal and collective, has an intimate connection to the paranormal and may act as a gateway, conduit or mirror through which we might
travel to explore and better understand the origin and meaning of such phenomena.
There is a substantial history pertaining to ‘meditation’* and its use in exploring the crop circles. This history pertains to three main areas of investigation.
- To influence the appearance of crop circles
- To explore what circles may appear - including locations and shapes
- As a form of communication with the phenomenon
Some of these methods have had startling results and have seemed to unveil the role that consciousness may play in the crop circle phenomenon as a whole.
*Traditionally, meditation is an act of religious devotion, but we will be stepping firmly outside this definition, the methods we will employ are best considered as consciousness-based exercises. All while fully
acknowledging that the crop circle phenomenon has always openly worn a deeper connection to spirituality on its sleeve.
Course Methodologies
So, to aid to our exploration of an individual circle during this course we will be using several types of consciousness-based exercises during our work together.
- Meditation with visual and musical aids.
- Guided Active Imagination exercise
- Subtle Sensing exercise
These three methods will allow us to explore different ways in which consciousness can be called upon to help us connect with and interpret the crop circle phenomenon.
In keeping with this tone we will be looking towards the work of C.G. Jung, Stanislav Groff, Jean Gebser and Jeffrey Kripal (amongst others) in looking at the special role psyche, the imagination and the imaginal, and more
specifically, altered states of consciousness play in so-called paranormal experiences - something that is on the cutting edge of new understanding about the paranormal, including the crop circles.
We will also be aiming to travel beyond simple wish-fulfilment, divination, or personal therapeutic uses of these types of exercises to explore what light the unconscious may shed specifically on the crop circles
themselves. We will discuss possible links between special states of imagination, the psyche and reality itself and offer tantalising glimpses of new states of consciousness, perception and communication.
These differing exercises will form a framework for a deep and intimate exploration of the crop circle we will be working with.
Dreams, Synchronicity and Intuition
As part of these explorations we will also be looking for interpretive clues in the realms of dreams, synchronicities and intuitions. We will explore the nature of these realms and how they can be understood, considered
and interpreted in the context of the crop circle phenomenon.
We will look at how these experiences might be evoked, incubated and recorded for observation, processing, and finally, integration.
One of the big aims of this course is to get everyone participating in the phenomenon for themselves, to explore its impact on everyone in the group and to see how this might deepen our understanding of the whole of the
phenomenon. All of this while sharing our deep passion for the crop circles and having a lot of fun, bouncing-around thoughts, ideas, and impressions in search of some personal and group revelations.
We will allow plenty of time during our sessions for sharing and discussion, and making comparisons and connections. Our final session aims to bring all of our personal explorations together for sharing, discussion and
finally, integration.
Self-care on this course
Working with a group can be a wonderful, supportive and life-enhancing experience. A large part of what makes our approach to the phenomenon so fulfilling and such fun is exactly that - a connection to other
like-minded people and the opportunity to talk about the crop circles in a deeper, wider way, not often afforded to us.
However, it also sensible and important to realise that it also has its limitations, and while we might be working with personal impressions, responses and reactions and processing some of them in a group environment, we
ask everyone coming on the course be mindful of their own wellbeing and to take an active and conscious approach to their own self-care.
Preparation for our
meditations/visualisations
Firstly, make sure you’re in a place that allows you to be undisturbed by interruption, noise or distraction for the duration of this exercises. As the visualisations will be played during the sessions you'll need this
place to be near your computer so you can hear it, or you may choose to use headphones. For our visual meditation, you will need to sit comfortably in front of your computer screen.
The non-visual exercises can be carried out while sitting or lying down with eyes closed, whatever is best for you. Make sure you are comfortable, not distracted by a hard surface, lumpy cushion, or by a draft. Have a
glass of water by you for after the exercise has concluded and you'll need some paper and a pen for writing down your impressions.
