Saturday 3rd October – Karen Alexander &
Geoff Fitzpatrick (6-8pm UK BST)
Our next presentaion as part of the online crop
circle conference is - Introduction to Crop Circle Geometry (Workshop).
Quick Note:
If you would like to draw along with Karen & Geoff during this workshop you need some basic drawing equipment:
1. A Compass. We recommend a bow compass.
2. Ruler
3. Eraser
4. A4 paper - heavier is better - cartridge paper is ideal.
3. Coloured pencils or pens.
It is not essential for you to do the drawing component, but it will add to the experience should you choose to.
You will receive a further email on the day of the workshop with a link to join the session.
Number, shape, form, proportion and geometry are the language of the crop circles, of that there can be little
doubt. They are their very fabric and framework, their flesh and bones if you will. One cannot really have any meaningful discussion about crop circles with out being able to talk about number and geometry and many of the talks at our conference over the years have dealt with this very aspect of the phenomenon.
This workshop is a gateway into the world of crop circle geometry, designed for both the beginner and the more
experienced explorer. It hopes to lift the veil on what can seem a bewildering, complex and specialised subject matter and give background and context to some of what you will hear discussed in some of the lectures during the conference. We aim to cover the following:
What is Geometry?
The quantities, qualities and philosophy of
numbers
Approaching the geometry/drawing of the Crop
Circles
Introducing Pi
The Squaring of the Circle explained
An Introduction to Phi (the Golden Section &
Fibonacci).
You can choose just to watch this workshop, or (we hope) you’ll decide to draw
along live with Geoff and I. We’ll guide you step-by-step through the process of constructing some drawings of your own. If there is one sure-fire way of gaining a quick appreciation of the circle-makers art, it’s by trying to draw a little of it for yourself! Most of all we hope to have a little fun, do a little drawing, perhaps a little colouring-in and learn while we play! We will provide a list of drawing equipment you’ll need to have prepared for the workshop when you book.
