Coneybury Henge, nr West Amesbury, Wilts.
This circle was reported on the 8th of July in a field of maturing wheat close between West Amesbury and Stonehenge. The crop circle sits almost on top of the site of an old Henge (long ploughed flat), by Coneybury Hill. Stonehenge can clearly be seen
over the road and to the West, and the New King Barrows are immediately to the north. The formation measures approximately 150ft in diameter and is well-made with a crisp outline and smoothly laid interior. As far as we are aware no permission has been given to enter this field, so please do not enter this circle unless you have specific permission from the farmer.
There can be little doubt this crop circle is the international symbol used to denote the presence of chemical weapons. Placed as it was, so close to Amesbury, it seemed that it was some kind of ‘comment'(?) on the recent discovery, injuries and death caused by a chemical weapon in the town of Amesbury. Because of this fact it is difficult to interpret it in any other way, it is
however, unusual for the crop circles to make ‘comment’ of this kind, but not unheard of. The symbol itself was developed so as to have no other meaning than the one assigned to it, so as not to cause confusion. The three-fold design is similar to ones used for both radiation and biohazards (also three-fold in nature), making them of a kind. This circle is interesting because it’s pattern was designed to only have one meeting, in juxtaposition to the majority of crop circles which are open to
many interpretations.
It has been over ten years since we first began the Summer Crop Circle Lectures and during that time the crop circle phenomenon, while remaining constant, has changed enormously. The way we think about the subject and interact with the circles has moved on and so has the way we do our conference, with emphasis on community and the sharing of ideas
and experiences.
Our Ethos: You’ll find our conference is a little less about entertainment and more about community and collegiality. It’s an event where the crop circles are not only enjoyed and celebrated, but where people can come and join in the conversation, share
their experiences and participate in a more inclusive and collaborative way. As important as the circles themselves are the people who are drawn to them, often full of experiences and stories, insight and wisdom. It is they (in addition to our speakers) that make up the ‘body conference’. As always, our speakers will be drawn from those who have actually spent time in the fields and those who are actively engaged in the endeavour to better understand the phenomenon. Our speakers will not just be
published authors, or professional speakers, but people who genuinely have something interesting and progressive to say about the phenomenon – some will be updating us about where their research has taken them in the last year, or over several years.
